Reading, Writing, and Life on the Page
Maithuna
The eyes and the body
The rain and the lotus
The thunderbolt and the bell
The two in one
Note:
Maithuna is a Sanskrit term used in Tantra, which is a class of Hindu or Buddhist religious literature concerned with ritual acts of body, speech, and mind. It is often translated as sexual union in a ritual context, and it constitutes the main part of the Grand Ritual of Tantra. _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul

I wrote Maithuna as my ero-poetic reply to Octavio Paz's poem of the same title.
Poem Lyrics of Maithuna by Octavio Paz, Translation by Eliot Weinberger
My eyes discover you
naked
and cover you
with a warm rain
of glances
Note:
I wrote a review of his love poems, Touch and Maithuna, posted at http://coviews.com/viewtopic.php?p=190024#190024 _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul |

I wrote this
http://www.coviews.com/viewtopic.php?t=37131
then I read a few times and found it could be an ero-poem too.
Like my another poem "When desires awaken", I wrote it by instinct. Months after, I found it could be read as an ero-poem, so I submit it to Quills Poetry and it got accepted. _________________ ---------------------

In Tantrism, it is the symbol of the feminine principle. _________________ Don't imitate me;

Interesting.
Read in the different context, the same poem could be interpreted differently by the same author. Good. that's one of the main reasons I love to read literary works.
Good work. Congratulations! _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul |

why?
Do the thunderbolt and the bell symbolize the phallus and the vulva respectively? _________________ My throat knew thirst before the structure

Liked the change better though not sure if it satisfied dundas's question. Sometimes, it is more apt for me to read implicitness in certain situation. Just me. |

The original verse line is too explicit.
Yes, the thunderbolt and the bell symbolize the phallus and the vulva respectively.
In Tantric art, the god Shiva and his consort Shakti are portrayed as one body through sexual union and as two aspects of one god. Shiva is shown holding a thunderbolt and Shakti a bell. These symbolize the phallus and vulva respectively.

I wrote Maithuna as my ero-poetic reply to Octavio Paz's poem of the same title, which was written through the lens of Tantrism.
Generally speaking, Octavio Paz was an indiaphile and fascinated by tantric Buddhism that exerts a powerful and constant influence on his view about eroticism. _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul |
