What’s the Point?

"Are you scared?”

"What should I be scared of? The only thing to be scared of is tomorrow. And I don’t live for tomorrow.”

"But, you just saw John jump off the windowa few hours ago.”

"John was a friend of mine. It was not a pleasant thing to see. John’s problem was he didn't like being John Lewis, the world's third richest man and chairman of MicroWorld One. From time to time, he’d look in the mirror and ask, ‘What’s the point?’ I never do that. A question like that will kill you.”

"A question like that will kill you? What’s your point?”

The point is: what's the point of witnessing one's friend jumping off from the window and being scared of nothing?

Thanks for the reading and comment. I think you missed the key point of my piece, What's the Point?.

In my view, I think the point is one's self-reflection.

A Confucian Confusion: A Poem Dedicated to the Late Taiwanese Filmmaker Edward Yang

It is early morning
It is high noon
It is late night
I do the things
Just as my ancestors did
I sit alone
By the lake of mind
I see your face
Beneath the water
We never get tired
Of gazing at each other
I call out to you
Silently comes an echo
I dedicate these moments
To you alone, for you
I groom myself

In my view, I think the point is one's self-reflection.

He began to examine himself, looking himself up and down in the mirror: A residual expression on the face from the happy, good old days; shallow brownish bags under the eyes; lean, sunken cheek; a stiff neck; flabby arms. And that’ all he got.

Growing old is something unbearable for some people.

One day you get up and find yourself "less than".

I think "a few hours ago" would be better.

I've revised my piece.

This is a sad fate from a man to die too well-known to everybody else and still unknown to himself
