I read Chinese stories and watched Chinese movies with words like "Shoot me first", but it shocked me whem I heard it from an American girl. Respect to her. |

写完以后，心里就隐隐地感到有人会发问，果然，在一个地方惹祸了。
"Not sure we can make such judgment."
不过在这里倒是平安无事。

I heard of that incident, here in far away South Africa, but didn't know that there was a little Amish girl who said, "Shoot me first". The tears are coursing down my cheeks at that. I also am blown away at her parents' ability to forgive the killers - though here in South Africa, many victims of Apartheid have been like that - Nelson Mandela, for one.
I feel even more strongly than Badger about that line. I know that Christ will forgive, but I get what you were meaning, I think - that it won't be overlooked by Christ and that He mourns the suffering the little girl went through.

I have realized the question and would like to have this post sink to the bottom of the page, and then I read your comment and thought maybe more people share the same point of view as that of yours.
As an athesist, ignorant of any religions, I see this incident as the tragedy and suffering of Amish community. The man who killed is reported as angry with his life, angry at God. But it is the peoploe, the Amish people who offered forgiveness to the killer. They may gain this strength from their belief of which I have no knowledge. However, I give my respect to the girl and her family members for their braveness and forgiveness.
I am glad that you understand me, and glad both you and Badger shared your views in all honesty.
