It's Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken, a poem which is analyzed, commented and quoted numerous times and which is tricky as Frost himself claimed.
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
My Reflection:
Yes, in The Road Not Taken, there is no road less travelled and the speaker is actually facing two identical paths. This poem is more about the difficulty of having to make choices in any way, and less concerned with the celebration of individual autonomy.
However, on first reading, the content of The Road Not Taken seems seductively moralistic, and American:
" Two roads diverged in a wood, I ......
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference."
These lines above strike deep inside the American psyche, wrap the poem up, and become the core message: the virtues of self-reliance and personal independence.
Thanks for sharing this poem and Poets.org

Robert's poems are taught in many schools here, even in element school.
His poems are close to spoken English, very easy to recite and remember.
Thanks for sharing. _________________ ---------------------

Let's listen to this one.
This is the one I find very amusing and musical. The first time I hear a poem can be read this way, which expressed exactly the spirit of the poem, the meaning of the placement of the words, very Jazzy, too.
Enjoy!

Thank Lake for sharing this musically wonderful and politically conscientious poem by Gwendolyn Brooks.
"In stead of asking myself “They ain’t in school,” I wonder how they feel about themselves. Perhaps, they might consider themselves contemptuous of the establishment or at least they want to feel contemptuous of the establishment.”
Yes, well said.
I can’t believe that this poem, as Brooks has pointed out, has been banned here and there because of the word “jazz” which some people have considered as the sexual reference.
Hi! 星子, we’re hearing the young teacher reciting the story: The NeverEnding Story (my piece is posted at http://coviews.com/viewtopic.php?t=39000)
Now, maybe you have a different view about "这和我们小时听的从前有坐山,有什么区别呢?只不过,一个在学校/教师,一个是庙/和尚?" _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul |

Well said. Look at an age-old question from a new perspective. |
