I try to use the tool above and paste
It’s easy to hear what others proclaim
it counts 9 syllables, but I think it is 10?
Soon dress them up to be pretend friends
it counts 8 syllables, but I count 9? Why?
Anyone knows?

Generally speaking, the number of syllable equals the number of vowels. However, in practice, English native speakers mentally count the 'beat' of the rhythm by syllables.
For example, the word "interesting" have four vowels but three syllables because the word is pronounced as in.t(e)re.sting, three beats.

It seems it doesn't count "Y" as vowel

Does the machine eat unstressed syllables such as 'the', 'to'? My first guess. Now it seems it is not reliable just like any translation machines are not reliable.
'interesting' does have two pronunciations with 3 or 4 syllables respectively. |
