Version I:


I am here
and not here

Every night
I sleep in Taipei
but wake up in Ajax

My mind is winged
by a yearning
for things not yet lost

flying into the garden of memories
yet dancing across time and space

Only dreams are real.

Note:

1 I posted two versions of Things Not Yet Lost. The second version was suggested by my poet friends at another forum. Which version do you prefer? Any comments would be much appreciated!

2 I immigrated to Canada on July 7th, 2002. One and a half months later, I finally settled in Ajax, a town located in the Golden Horseshoe of south central Ontario, where I've been struggling with a life in transition and translation.

I'm glad to know that my poem spoke to you and conveyed your feelings.

As a matter of fact, it has been well received at another forum. The majority of poets there liked these lines as well. The moderator even claimed, "In fact, they are a poem unto themselves."
