Space Odyssey: A Poem Dedicated to Authur C. Clarke, Author of 2001: A Space Odyssey
Space Odyssey is poetry
Inscribed on the silver screen
True Poems fade away
Note:
Arthur C. Clarke, who died today in Sri Lanka after suffering from breathing problems, was a British science fiction author, one of the Big Three in the sci-fi literary galaxy. The dominant theme of his writing is the clear and unshaming expression of “an optimistic view of science empowering mankind's exploration of the solar system.” Especially in his early work, he foregrounded “the extrapolation of a technological innovation or scientific breakthrough into the underlying decadence of his own society.” He was most famous for his novel 2001: A Space Odyssey and for collaborating with director Stanley Kubrick on the mind-bendingly poetic film of the same name. William Kloman wrote in the New York Times, "'Space Odyssey' is poetry. It asks for grooving, not understanding," a quote that was featured prominently in ads for the film, 2001: A Apace Odyssey, of which the opening depicts the sun rising above a crescent Earth while the introduction to Richard Strauss' tone-poem, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, plays, a visual poem of our existence and destiny. _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul |

A Cinephine's Reflection on the Cinema of Stanley Kubrick
The art of kubrickian film-making is that of seeing through the camera's eye, sculpting time and meaning from sound and sight, and reflecting onto the silver screen the sorrows and joys, tragedies and triumphs that make us human. _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul |

A Cinephine’s Glittering Reality
Imagine yourself in a large cinema, slowly standing up until your nose is almost pressed against the silver screen. Gradually the stars' faces dissolve into dancing grains, and tiny details assume grotesque proportions. The cinematic illusion evolves into the glittering reality. _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul |

True poems? The choice of the adjective, "True," is interesting, reminding me of the concluding line from Emily Dickinson's poem, To see the Summer Sky:
True Poems flee— _________________ Don't imitate me;

Interesting line.
I like the filmic metaphor employed here. _________________ For you, forerunner

Yes, well said.
Though confined to a wheelchair for the last part of his life, Clarke's poetic imagination was still grappling with alien worlds, space exploration and scientific endeavour, and he continued to promote the idea: humanity's destiny lies beyond the confines of Earth. _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul |

I don't think so.
Though viewed as one of the Big Three in the sci-fi world, Clarke's sort of well spring of ideas died off after his groundbreaking 2001. _________________ This dark
