This poem reminds me of Nagisa Oshima’s ( 大島渚) 1986 film entitled Max, Mon Amour ( Max, My Love), which is a comedy about a diplomat's wife whose love affair with a chimpanzee named Max. This satirical domestic farce is skilfully incorporated into an eminently civilised ménage à trios, a French term describing a relationship or domestic arrangement in which three people, often a married couple and another lover, share a sexual relationship; it challenges its viewers with poignant questions such as:

. who is the lover, actually?
. what is the essence of love?
. what is Man capable of loving?
. what is Monkey capable of loving?
