In the three sections of the book, gravity and grief are equally heavy. I was shocked by the rare openness and incredible power that Bunny has woven into her poems. Here she unveils the tracks of tragedies as in “Boat People”:“…tired sheep are led to the ark/seeking a distant salvation./Boat people execute their freedom/slowly sinking under the horizon.” and in “Where is She?”: “My mother, wiping tears, blurted: She was murdered by the Nazis…”; Bunny asks for answer, hunts for hope, prays for peace.
Among cross-cultural visual eyes, Bunny pens “Raw Beauty” and deep humanity with mixture of colors on her muse canvas so that “the face of society removes its mask”. As Bunny quotes Pablo Picasso’s “Work is love made visible”, poetry to her is the work. In “Looping for Art’s Sake”, she finds hope through her keen eyes and beautiful mind. I want to be in the loop too.
