The Austin International Poetry Festival is happening April 9-12, 2015. There really is no better time of the year to visit Austin, Texas than in April. Austin is chockfull of things to do in addition to all the poetry you can handle at AIPF. Visit the bats on Congress Avenue, one of the too many to count music venues that gives us the name “Live Music Capital of the World”, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Barton Springs Pool, the infamous “Dirty 6th Street” the bar after bar after bar district, and don’t forget to try the brisket. Those are just a few, there’s a whole lot more.

Festival-at-a-Glance

The festival includes over twenty unique Austin venues, 30 diverse themed poetry readings, ten plus open mics, ten plus workshops, five music and poetry events, a complete anthology reading, anthology competition, all-night open mic, poet symposium, and much, much more. AIPF has hosted poets from over 40 countries. Each festival features select poets from the following categories: International, National, State, and Austin.

Youth activities are available for K-12 students to learn and improve their poetry skills. Registration is free for K-12 students. Youth activities include an anthology competition, anthology reading, grade specific readings, two workshops, and printed anthologies. Youth Feature Poet reads at a Special Poetry Reading.
