BAM! The Youth Slam
Wednesday, October 8, at 6:00 pm
at The Central
603 Markham Street (just west of Bathurst & Bloor)
Hosted by Patrick de Belen
Featuring: Brian Millado

For new slammers of this month, this is the last slam before our
finals in November. Top 3 poets of this slam will be qualified to
compete in the final slam, and possibly earn a chance to be a part of
the 2015 BAM! Youth Poetry Team.

Rules of a BAM! Poetry Slam are quite simple. There we will have 12
slots open for youth poets ages 12-19 - 2 rounds, 3 minutes with a 10
second grace period for every poet to drop their fire, with a 0.5
penalty for every 10 seconds afterwards. There is an OPEN MIC
available for all ages for anyone that wants to share his or her works
on stage!

Open Book Literary Salon
Wednesday, October 8 at 7:30 pm
at Harbourfront Centre
285 Queens Quay West

We're talking to three of Canada's finest writers, Kamal Al-Solaylee,
Camilla Gibb and Steven Heighton, about how they write place in their
books; how the places they've lived, travelled and written in have
affected them; and how place plays out in their writing lives.

In an open and casual conversation, these talented authors will talk
about writing retreats; the politics of place; travel; place as
character; and much more, with audience members invited to participate
and ask questions or, if you prefer, to just soak up the literary
goodness.
