"Nerd, Logical and No”-
they are the three words
that my son wants to define himself.
It is a game we play,
for a thirteen-year-old boy,
whom I could not figure out by direct conversation.
Well, he does not detect this plot and joins me joyfully.
When I ask him to cross out a word,
he pauses for a moment, “Nerd”,
“Yeh, I think I can live without it.”
I press further, “How about only one word for yourself?”
Oh, “No” he exclaims.
“No?” I ask.
“Yes, No is what I want”, my son nods.
“Saying No to all the demands might save my life…”
He winks at me.
