I fell in love with Haiku. So I read any book about haiku that I could borrow. Here is a good one: A Haiku Journey, Basho's Narrow Road to a Far Province

In introduction, the little poem stands out

A seashell
Is a Japanese poem
Of seventeen syllables --
Small and formal in shape
But containing an ocean
Of thoughts.

What Haiku are for?

When we compose a haiku we are saying, "It is hard to tell you how i am feeling. Perhaps if I share with you the event that made me aware of these feelings, you will have similar feeling of your own."

Stating the feeling alone builds walls; stating the causes of the feelings builds path.

Remembering Basho

old pond
the sound of a frog jumping
till today

raindrops from the basho
before your hut
roll into my dream

this autumn
I am aging too
reading you again

the moon so pure
a meandering river carries it
mountains still

a narrow path
to the far
stars loom
