for Peter

We wore black and lined up
to say goodbye to you.
My son was confused-
Where has he gone this time?
I kissed my son’s bright eyes,
and tugged him to bed.
An angel’s story is what I need
to make up for him, and for us.

There are angels in my book
I haven’t have chance to sign for you.
There are mysteries in my poems.
I cannot figure out which one fits.
But I do know the captain of my son’s team
won’t send messages back and forth,
won’t be helping his team to practice again!

It hurts.
They told me
you had a heart attack.

Up there, high, I search for angels.
I hope you are among them.
I have remembered your smiles and your cheers,
and you have joked-
"When will there be a poem for me
and for the game?"

It hurts.
This is the poem and I don’t know how to end.
