Between us, there is a mirror.
No matter how close we are,
there is distance.

I walk away till you
are out of sight.
Yet the emptiness
draws me back.

Outside, I am;
inside, you remain.

I light up the house,
and pile up prizes,
trying to stand tall.
Still, I see you, vacant.

Closing my eyes,
I hear a bird flapping
wings,
in and out--

until the mirror breaks,
a river flows,
a face lifted.
