CELEBRATE NATIONAL POETRY MONTH

FREE FILMS ALL MONTH LONG!

April is National Poetry Month, and we’re celebrating by offering FREE poetry-related films on our Digital Viewing Stations all month long!

Free films include Bruce Alcock’s At the Quinte Hotel, a fluid, vibrant and kinetic riff on one of Al Purdy’s best-known poems which recalls the experimental, interpretive work of Norman McLaren; Torill Kove’s The Danish Poet, the Best Animated Short Oscar-winner in 2007; In Short: Leonard Cohen, a series of short films inspired by the works of Leonard Cohen; and Eva Szasz’s The Cremation of Sam McGee, the childhood adventure story brought to life in a lavishly illustrated poem by Robert W. Service. Also available is Bruce Alcock’s recently Genie-nominated film, Vive la rose, a film that uses animation on location, and is based on the last recording by one of Newfoundland's foremost traditional music performers, Émile Benoit.
