I rush through the cemetery area,
passing many cars driving in slow pace.
I start to regret not slowing down
to pay my respect.

There sleep thousands of strangers,
finding themselves eternal home -
Someday, I may join them and never rush out.

Someday?
They sit up and shout,
Rush. Kid.
Life is too short.
You will have enough time here to sleep later.

I grin and dash to the busy street.

Your hands fumble for a mail in your pocket.
This is the fifth time you stop here.

No dog barks.
He gets used to you by now.
Resting under the warm sunlight,
he ignores your peeking.

The door is still closed.
Some pages hang on its hand knob,
promoting estate announcements.

Along the drive road,
tulips, shape as full cups, droop.
This morning, when you got here,
they were still cuddled up.
You wonder if they are like you
could not cling to a message longer.

By the mailbox,
You hesitate,
fearing the reply not what you hope for,
or even worse, no reply.
