TOUGH TIMES

The world has been plunged into the worst economic period since the Great
Depression. The auto industry in Canada and the U.S. is virtually dead.
People are losing jobs and losing their homes. People’s savings have been
eaten up by the plunge in the stock market and the closure of banks. The
outlook is bleak. People are in a struggle to survive. This anthology seeks
to capture the moment in all its rawness. We are looking for real life
stories. Such accounts can take the form of creative non-fiction, essay,
memoir, diary and interviews. We are also seeking sketches and photographs.
The editor of this collection is the award-winning poet and editor John B.
Lee. Besides writing some 50 books, and winning numerous awards including
the Milton Acorn People’s Poetry Award and the CBC-Tilden Literary
Competition, John has been the editor of several anthologies including Under
the Weight of Heaven: Writings from Gethsemani, Losers First, Body Language,
Smaller Than God: words of spiritual longing (with Brother Paul Quenon),
Henry’s Creature (with Roger Bell), That Sign of Perfection: from bandy legs
to beer legs—poems and stories on the game of hockey, Bonjour Burgundy:
writing from La Roche D’Hys, and more …
