[温暖的水獸]

All I know is to tell the story

Confucius once went to a quiet place near a pond where he sat under a tree to reflect upon his life. And so it began.

His successor, Mancius, followed his example and went to the same place, but said, “I can’t find the tree under which my teacher used to sit, but I still can reflect on my life.” And so it was done.

Numerous generations passed. Chu Hsi, a pious believer of Confucianism, went to a certain place, but said, “I don’t know under which tree near which pond my forefathers of Confucianism used to sit. All I know is to find a place and reflect on my life. I think that will be enough.” And so it was done.

Numerous generations had passed. Eric stayed at home and said, “I don’t know how to find a place to reflect on my life. All I know is to tell the story.”
