COFFIN (Long poem)

He moved as a drum
Drum around canebrake sounded in his body
Moonlight is a dope
His nerves are same as canebrake standing
Growing distolic leaves

Ancestors’ torch was moving to deep mountains

He closed the gate of lips
To rise water lever of thought
He gazed the train of mountains abandoned in the wilderness
Which flame-out because of burning up coal of body of slaves
He shouted toward the mountains
To wake the sheep sleeping of the black stone
He read the book of rock in the library of valley
Swords of cross sunshine shine on the bookshelf of cliff
He stood at the peak looking up at moon
That is gem coming above ruins of the mountains

He was a shadow left on the earth by ancestors
Carrying black seeds
Old coal
And a lonely song
From Negril to new York
From new York to Quebec
From Quebec to Toronto
He moved in the lights of the cities one after another
Same as from one port to another
New York city skyline tower into the clouds
Lights shot down from the windows in the sky
He didn’t know which widow is his own
Survival above all else
He wandered in the streets in New York
Selling drugs in Harlem in the midnight
And being a waiter at a nightclub
He took a risk to break in the backstage becoming a jazz drummer
Faced a flow of traffic
He danced with joy in the road side and rapped the fast-changing life
At 5am, in the empty street, he shouted towards the widows of the high buildings
Same as towards the cliff crevices
None of night ghost‘s heads out except echo
He stepped off the subway tunnel with a hammer hitting the iron gate
Listening to the echo from the seabed
He walked down the canyon of the street to look for exit
The street seemed an eternity
He extracted darkness of a barrel with a needle to test depth of the night
None of mosquitoes flew out from the ground and asked him where he is going
None of stars shown eyes in the church steeple to concern his faith
None of alien sit in the front of the instruments in flying saucer to monitor his brain waves
Observing how it spread in the forest of nerves as lightning speed
None of ghosts of slaves ambushed in the road side to overhear drums of his footsteps
Which opened the back door escaping out of room of his body
But it’s hind leg was trapped by the chain on his foot.
It has to follow him as a wilder ghost

他如一只移动的鼓
身体内响着围绕甘蔗林的鼓乐
月光是一针麻醉剂
他的神经如甘蔗林一样竖立
长满散开的绿叶

先祖的火把深入群山

他闭上嘴唇的闸门
为了让思想的水位升高
他注目废弃在旷野的山脉的火车
因为烧完了奴隶的尸体的煤块而熄火
他对着群山呼喊
为了把沉睡的黑色的石头的羊群唤醒
他在山谷的图书馆阅读岩石之书
峭壁的书架上闪耀着交叉的阳光的刀剑
他站在山顶仰望月亮
如见群山的废墟之上还有瑰宝降临

他是先祖在大地上行走留下的影子
携带黑色的种子
古老的煤块
和一支孤独的歌
他从内格里尔到纽约
从纽约到魁北克
从魁北克到多伦多
在一个又一个城市的灯火中流转
像从一个港口到另一个港口
纽约的高楼大厦高耸入云
灯火从高空的窗口射下来
不知道哪个窗口的灯火属于自己
生存高于一切
他在纽约的街头流浪
在午夜的哈莱姆贩卖毒品
在一家夜总会当侍应
冒险闯入后台成为一个爵士乐队的击鼓手
面对流水的车辆
在公路旁边手舞足蹈 说唱快速变化的生活
凌晨5点在空荡的大街对着高楼的窗户呼喊
如对着峡谷的峭壁崖缝
除了自己的回声没有一个夜鬼探出头来
他走下地铁隧道用锤子敲打铁门
谛听海底的回声
他沿着街道的峡谷一直走下去寻找出口
街道无限漫长
他用针头抽出一筒夜色测试夜的深度
没有一个蚊子从地下飞出来问他走向何方
没有一颗星从教堂的尖顶上露出眼睛关注他的信仰
没有一个外星人坐在飞碟用仪器监测他的脑电波
怎样在神经的森林里像闪电一样传播
没有一个像砍甘蔗一样被砍头的奴隶的鬼魂埋伏路边
偷听他脚步的鼓点
只有他的影子___一个囚禁的灵魂
推开后门逃出身体的房间
却被他脚上的绞索套住后腿
不得不像野鬼一样把他跟随
