The evening will be hosted by Carmine Starnino, Montreal poet and critic, and editor of Signal Editions.

About the poets:

Edward Carson is the author of two previous books of poetry, Scenes [1977] and Taking Shape [2008]. Twice winner of the E.J. Pratt Poetry Award, Carson was Writer in Residence for Open Book Toronto in In 2010. He lives in Toronto.

Jason Guriel’s books include The Pigheaded Soul: Essays and Reviews on Poetry and Culture (2013) and Pure Product (2009). His work has been anthologized in The Best Canadian Poetry in English. In 2007, he became the first Canadian to be awarded Poetry’s Frederick Bock Prize. Poetry gave him their Editors Prize for Book Reviewing in 2009. He lives in Toronto.

Richard Greene teaches Creative Writing and British Literature at the University of Toronto. His most recent biography Edith Sitwell: Avant-garde Poet, English Genius [2011] was widely acclaimed, and he has published three collections of poetry, including Boxing the Compass [2010], which won the Governer General's Award for Poetry. He lives in Cobourg, Ontario.

Jim Johnstone is the author of three previous books of poetry: The Velocity of Escape (2008), Patternicity (2010) and Sunday, the locusts (2011). He is the recipient of a CBC Literary Award, The Fiddlehead’s Ralph Gustafson Poetry Prize, and Matrix Magazine’s LitPop Award. Currently he’s the Poetry Editor at Palimpsest Press, and an Associate Editor at Representative Poetry Online. He lives in Toronto.
