CALL FOR YOUTH PROPOSALS FOR NATIONAL YOUTH ARTS WEEK - "REBEL 2013"

Mississauga, ON - The City of Mississauga’s Culture Division, in collaboration with the Mississauga Arts Council, are seeking emerging artists and performers to submit proposals for events to be presented at various locations across the city for REBEL 2013. REBEL 2013 is the City’s signature youth arts events series presented as part of National Youth Arts Week and is taking place May 1 to 7, 2013. Successful proposals will receive $250 towards the presentation of their event. Submissions will be juried by a panel of peer artists.

Emerging artists and performers between the ages o f 18 to 30 are invited to apply. The deadline for applications is coming up on Monday, February 18, 2013. Please click here for full details.

ABOUT REBEL 2013
The name, REBEL, was established in 2011 to mark the launch of National Youth Arts Week. Mississauga’s signature REBEL week features terrific events every day for seven days. All events are designed for youth by youth and anyone can either participate or host their own event. For 2013, REBEL goes underground by seeking out artists 18 to 30 years of age to submit their proposals for events that may take place in untraditional spaces such as parking garages, basements, tunnels and other underground spaces… or underground could simply be a state of mind: do you already have a great idea and the perfect spot to showcase it? Send in your proposal now!

Between May 1 to 7, young people across Canada join together to host the largest youth-led celebration of creative expression and community involvement. For further information about National Youth Arts Week visit www.youthartsweek.ca What we offer: marketing, collaboration, mentorship and financial support to a maximum amount of $250 CDN for your event.

What you offer: art, music, presentation, ideas, laughter, provocation, history, walks, comics, documentary, film, dance, theatre, imagination, marketing, collaboration, flexibility, commitment, experience and audience engagement.
