The assistant manager shows no sympathy.
"Even if they are killing me? What if the boots have defects? ” I ask.
He adds, “It is your decision to wear them.
Better to try them on for hours before going outside.”
"For hours? Do you? “ I doubt it.
"Well, they are yours now. We cannot take them back.” He insists.

So I come home again with “the Killing Boots”.
Five days ago, they had a pricetag.
This time, I add a heartbroken nametag: “Killing”.

If you were me, how could you forget
just three days ago they ruined my long weekend?
And if I had known, I would never have worn them!

But the truth is I wore them to attend a lecture.
The truth is although most of the time I sat to listen,
I gradually felt pain.
The next day, my right foot couldn’t move.

I was panicked by the thought of bone diseases or cancer.
Lying on my bed, I called a doctor to consult.
“No. No twist, no falling.
No, this never happened before. ”
The doctor had no clue.

So I was doomed to miss my son’s games.
I was doomed to let my husband miserably
cook our Thanksgiving meal.
I said to myself,
"This is the worst Thanksgiving we ever had.”

But the assistant manager keeps telling us:
"A rule is a rule. "

I should videotape my Thanksgiving
and send it to him.

It is a true story for me. It happened three days ago.

Yesterday I went to the store and asked to exchange the boots. They said "A rule is a rule". But I could try to call the customer service.

Since the boots made me suffer too much, I detemined to call and complain.

This morning, I sent the poem to them and explained what happened.

Well, they called me back and said, since a rule is a rule, so they don't take the boots back. But they would like to give me the refund.

What I learnt from that is to tell the truth and fight for your right.
My right here is that I buy things to be useful but not hurtful.
