Comments about the bailout from the Star.


Treating the symptom, not the cause
Of course the bailout won’t work! It does nothing to treat the underlying causes of the problem. The financial crisis was caused by out of control capitalism. After the fall of communism Big Money thought that getting their hands on all of our money was their rightful bounty. They quickly tossed the government out of the way, swung open the doors of the treasury and emptied the till, then started borrowing to get more. They destroyed the economy with outsourcing, free trade and corruption, then covered it up by allowing people to get loans without any justification. This was Bush’s famous “ownership economy”, making a living of building homes for people who couldn’t afford it. Regular tax cuts helped destroying the tax base. This will only get worse until a US president works up the courage to take on Big Business and restore law and order. There is no way in the World for a Republican (or a Conservative in Canada) to do it, these parties are in fact run by Big Business.

anything that just kicks a jagged hole in your soul when you read or hear it, as well as energizing you to the point of ripping open the throat of
your insurance companys claims manager, simply put, a piece of this calibre is a virtual nonpareil.

"Plowing" can having metaphorical connotations too. Sometimes, failed crops are plowed-under if they can't be salvaged. Sometimes, plowing makes the soil ready for another season's bounty. I wonder which will be the case with this situation ...

"Plowing" can having metaphorical connotations too. Sometimes, failed crops are plowed-under if they can't be salvaged. Sometimes, plowing makes the soil ready for another season's bounty. I wonder which will be the case with this situation ...

Hi Brenda,

Thank you very much for confirming what I wrote.

It is interesting and here you point out about "Plowing". Yes. you read me well.
The interesting thing is my USA friends here read this very well, but my Canadian friends read "plowing" inmediately as plowing snow, which steers to the wrong vision...

So to make it clear, I changed the end to add two more lines. Hope it not stain the whole poem.

Am I ?

Thank you very much for confirming what I wrote.

The interesting thing is my USA friends here read this very well, but my Canadian friends read "plowing" inmediately as plowing snow, which steers to the wrong vision...
