Yes , the real tragedy of that day, May 12th, and of the days that followed cannot be fully acknowledged and understood by a reporter with competing deadlines and other stories to tell.

Good point.
The students' deaths have become the focus for the Chinese, both inside and outside the quake zone, fueling accusations about corruption in school construction. |

A sharp eye for my poem. I inserted it into the so-called Official Figures. The number is based on The Toronto Star's report.
Accprding to The Associated Press report (posted at http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/06/03/asia/AS-GEN-China-Earthquake.php ), two of its photographers covering the protest by the grief-stricken parents against school construction and corruption were forcibly dragged by the arms up the steps into the courthouse by police trying to prevent them from seeing the demonstration. |
