The Peacock’s Pride

It is his finest feature
and so he knows,
with the instinct
of creatures of vanity,
that preening and strutting
this one fine asset
transports him
to the realms of beauty.

A sole adornment
is oft prize enough,
and like a jewel
of brilliant quality
casts to advantage
when set so plain,
creating a unique,
captivating beauty.
