The Jesus Myth

Jesus, the Crucified One

Jesus appeared at some “historic” moment in human history, whose story is written on the pages of the four Gospels of the New Testament. He was punished by a righteous God for the sins of all humankind, and he was nailed to a cross. "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" he cried out in a loud voice. Silence came; he humbled himself unto death. Roman soldiers stripped off his perishable rags, but the God of the Gospels clothed him in eternal life that no one could take from him.

But rather becomes true or false
If and when we conduct our communal lives

Jesus Whom the Damned Knew

Jesus didn't preach to the damned
But conversed with the damned
He knew their comings and goings
And even their every thought.
Jesus was drawn to the damned in their weakness
And preferred their company
It was this openness that drew the damned to Jesus, as well.

Normally I keep myself distant from religious topics for the lack of knowledge. But I find this one easy to understand with very few words, besides the opinions in the dialogues are clearly expressed whether they are right or wrong.

Again, interesting and informative discussions here.

I have to admit that I am blind in this field and now I try to open up my mind to different religions no matter I believe them or not. Poems with religious themes sometimes can become risky if the impression the readers get is just preaching, but nothing else. On the other hand, I have realized that one needs to have a certain kind of belief, hope, faith to sustain oneself in one's journey of life. It may be called 'spiritual sustenance'?

One gift I received from my co-workers is a book "Expressions of Comfort" by Helen Steiner Rice, the subjects of which are all God related. When I read it, I take it as inspirational rather than religious poetry. Sometimes, I even use my preferred terms to replace some religious terms in the poem. Please don't get mad at me.
