Good evening, everyone. Nice to see you again.
Last time I told you my hobbies, this time you will know my secrets.
Yes, secrets!
Twenty years ago, I slapped two persons.
One, my neighbor’s daughter; the other, my first boy friend.
The girl I slapped hated me for that, even this slap awakened her and saved her life.
The boy I slapped we become life-time friends.
How? You may wonder.
Well, it is a long story. To keep it short, I will read a poem.
I guarantee you will figure it out.
The Slap On Her Face
I slapped her on the face,
while she was still crying.
she refused to leave.
I wonder if I am as cruel
as her boyfriend;
I long to slap her many times.
she risks too much for him.
I said and I meant it,
"If you don't come with me right now,
I will leave you ALONE."
with a sharp slap, she heard.
no need to repeat.
the doctor said later,
I saved her life.
she said nothing,
neither did I.
Now, wherever we meet,
we silently walk away;
the slap on her face
still hurts.
Hm… some of you wave your heads, others stare at me.
OK, Ok. I will tell you the story.
It was summer. I sitting in backyard and heard someone weeping. I sensed something went wrong, and noticed the crying was from my neighbor’s daughter. I called a few times but nobody answered. So I knocked down the door and rushed in. The girl was trying to suicide. Without pity, I slapped her and forced her to go with me to see the doctor. Yes. I saved her life in time.
Then for another slap, it was in winter. I was with my first boy friend alone. Alone . . . Suddenly, I slapped him when he approached me. I guess my instinct waking up to tell me that we were too young to understand love.
Luckily, years later, he accepted my slap and agreed with me that we could be good friends but not lovers.
Sometimes you never know the ending. Things never go as you predict. Just like my experience, for the slap which saved her life, she returns me hate. For the slap which broke his heart, he rewards me friendship.
