月光和湖边的变奏
蔡利华作品
The variation of moonlight and the lake
"Life is a one-way journey."
When you say that,
the moon floats out from trees,
stars glimmer faraway.
Your words strike waves on the lake,
somber and sad your face is reflected
in the silvery light.
The wind halts on branches,
mountain submits fade away.
I swim dreamily to the center of the lake.
Dark streams flow up the back of my hand.
I cannot explain--
my entire path has been curved and hidden,
while ancient life still shines under the moon,
leaves rustle in the dark,
ripples resonate with tonight's passion
In my heart I believe there is no single moment
the same as tonight
and the wind will never be identical.
I meet your staring, swallow the sorrow
of the piercing moonlight.
We wander under the moon
and watch the lush branches
of the Ginkgo tree cradle the bright moon.
We watch the turning glory of tonight's lake.
I say to you, "I will leave such beauty behind."
You gaze faraway, fail to capture my deep sigh.
Years later,
I will be back here again.
When I think of you,
the same moon will rise in my heart.
The breeze will still blow;
yet my hair will turn grey.
The old ginkgo tree will witness
my unchanged faith and my ordinary life.
Though your illumination may not stay,
your face is carved eternally
inside my poem since this night.
