Out of passions for both China and the U.S, and because of his love for a top Chinese agent woman, he leaks crucial information, which saves the life of China’s Premier from terrorists and convinces China to invite Nixon to Beijing.
The woman recruiting him to work for the CIA is a loser in a chase for a Chinese professor’s heart, whose elder son years later marries the top Chinese agent woman, and the younger son loves a girl who happens to love the man inside the CIA. Interweaved by two generations of three love triangles, the movie unfolds a continuous, amorphous spy war between China and the U.S. over fifty years.

(Synopsis)
This story is about a CIA employee, without whom Nixon would not have been invited to Beijing and China’s Premier would have been long dead. He leaks critical information to China, but he and his lawyer argue that his unauthorized actions end up serving America’s best interests!
Interweaving three love triangles in two generations, the movie builds upon an amorphous spy war between China and the U.S. over fifty years. Born in China and raised as an orphan by a Catholic priest, Willy is a good student. His English teacher, Maria, is actually sent by the CIA to observe the civil war between the Chinese government and the Communists.
At a rally against the war, a professor whom Maria has had a crush on since she was a student is almost assassinated. The Communists soon take over and Maria returns to the U.S. and later recruits Willy to work for her at the CIA. Also working for her is another former student of hers, Janet, who loves Willy very much, although he loves another girl, an orphan raised by the same Catholic priest. It turns out that both she and the priest are underground communists.
When Janet’s father, an army general and a former student of the new Red China’s Premier, discovers a terrorist plan against the Premier, he tells his daughter. The CIA can hardly intervene. Nevertheless, this information leaks and China’s Premier survives. Suspecting her for the leak, Maria fires Janet. But soon she finds another leak, which brings China and the U.S. together against the Soviets.
Later, Maria painfully learns that the Chinese professor she loves has died of persecution during China’s Cultural Revolution, partly because of her. In her more recent visits to China she meets a surviving son of the professor, who actually loves Janet. Out of jealousy he reveals who leaks inside the CIA!
Although inspired by the true Larry Wu-tai Chin case, this movie is entirely fictional.
