Poetry Reading

Since this year I was very busy, so I seldom went to read poetry. I did attend to several poetry workshop. I prefer workshop to Open Mic. The main reason is that Open Mic often has no discussion or detailed feedback. Some people read loud, others may not have good pace to read their poems, so it isn’t easy to catch up their reading. However at workshop, everyone gets a copy to share, so I can read it by myself and think about the meanings and the skills. Then I can understand it better and provide feedback. The most important is that I also can hear how others react after they truly read them. Not like the Open Mic, people nod their heads without listening.
Tonight I went to reading session again. I found some new faces and others, old friends. It was great to see them and also to know there still are many people keep their hopes and dreams.
Since my two year study plan will be completed soon, I will have time to resume my co-chair of CFP Mississauga Poetry event. So I will continue monthly reading events or host poetry workshop soon.
I am also glad TOP poetry event will resume soon, I will be there too. I want to build the experience and skills by learning from different people and different events.
