Major Whiteside County Drug Sting in Progress
STERLING, IL -- The Whiteside County Sheriff's Anti-Crime/Narcotics unit along with the help of the Illinois State Police arrested multiple people and seized various drugs and in two days last week in a large sting operation that has concluded as a result of one local area couple Ray and Diane Lewis of Mount Morris, IL.
More than 10 pounds of marijuana have been seized in multiple stings around Whiteside County at various set up locations such as Menards in Sterling, IL says Lewis 52, of Mount Morris. I assisted in the recent arrest around the area from Sept. 30 thru Oct. 9.
About 10 pounds of marijuana, 18 doses of heroin and 10 Endocet pills, a narcotic pain reliever, were recovered in the stings, Lewis said.
Lewis said the Sting Operation also seized multiple vehicles and about $10,000. He also said there are about 750 outlets where drugs are sold and that for several years the SAC/NARC unit has been working hard to arrest the people involved.
He said it was unusual for them to recover 2-3 pnd amounts from each party, but this operation was carried out by arresting users given to police by Lewis.
