Time Is Nothing But a Disquiet of the Soul (My Reply to Christine's Stillness and Presence)
ggggggggggggggggggggTime is not a thing, thus nothing which is, and yet it remains constant in its passing away ggggggggggggggggggggwithout being something temporal like the beings in time.
gggggggggggggggggggg-- Martin Heidegger, Being and Time
I
sunsets and sunrises --
out of sight
my bird of youth flew.
II
with the passing of time,
the joints of my memory
start aging and aching.
III
i turn gray like Van Winkle
not just under a shady tree
but inside. _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul

Thanks for your poetic reply to my piece.
You're so pessimistic about Time's passing.
As a poet, you should be a man of imagination.
Below is an excerpt from Stillness and Presence:
"...... imagine how liberating it is when you awaken to realize and accept without analysis that both past and future are activities of the present. The present is all that exists and will ever exist.
......
Time loses its grip on you, and past and future are beyond care and awareness."

Interesting discussion on Time's passing.
The allusion to Rip van Winkle is thought-evoking. _________________ Lines go off in all directions. |

Thank you so much for reminding me of that.
I enjoyed listening to Lennon's song.

Below are the replies from my poet friends at another forum:
Loved S2 the most, though the entire write is yummy!
-- Arunansu Banerjee
I really like this series. I think it's one of your best.
-- Emusing
This is so simple, so beautiful, and so wonderfully precise.
Yes, all things change. We are the ones whose fortune it is to witness the changes and consider them.
I have the impression that you are a very sharp-eyed observer.
-- Jane Røken
I like this very much--simple with subtle. I especially liked the gray...inside--excellent image!

I concur! And it adds the emotional weight and psychological depth to the poem. _________________ 報三恩、耕三大福田 |

That's part of my intention to make an allusion to Van Winkle, with which I contrast the speaker of the poem. _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul |

It seems to me that the poem can be divided into two parts: one portrays the dialogical relationship between the author and Heidegger through the connection established between the title and the quote the author chose.
I like II most and the phrase of your choice:"joints of my memory." _________________ Lines go off in all directions. |

You're right on the spot. The Heidegger quote functions as a subtext of the poem and thus forms a dialogical textual structure entailing a relationship of him to the narrator.

My favorite as well.
