Today at lunch time, my colleague mentioned some shocking news. When she referred to Chinese food, the milk incident, she lowered her voice. I knew it was because I was there and they felt embarrassed to discuss this. I didn’t know how to respond and lowered my head. I was quiet. I felt shameful and embarrassed. Just a few weeks ago, I was excited and over-happy to talk about the BeiJing Olympics games. Now it was a slap on my face. The glory withered too quickly.
Though I am still proud to be Chinese, I am shameful and may be for much time to come.

So I keep quiet. But I wonder how quiet could we be? Even if we keep avoiding talking about these disgraceful deeds, still they are facts. One of my colleagues has a dog. He mentioned that last year the pet food from China was recalled for the same reason. Many pet owners in Canada who were Chinese knew this too and they changed their pet food, but did not raise their warnings loud enough to reach back home. They would say : there is no use. True. Because it is a fact behind the theme of money, many know but nobody cares. It is only about earning-money and surviving. There is no other guideline for business.
All the slogans are literally beautiful. But on the backside, it only serves for one reason: Money. Now everyone seems to wake up and recognize the damage.
China spent huge money and invested countless workforce to give a peaceful, graceful and culture-enriched impression to the world. Now it crashes on the basic daily-life faith. What else could be edible? Who else could trust? Even if we don’t ask, the world will ask.

The whole system about business and education in China is like a growing cancer, even though we keep quiet, who knows how much longer could we be like this before it destroys everything, including the country?
We must wake up and raise our voices. We must ask for a safer and healthier home for everyone. We must keep doing that until the faith is rebuilt.
