RAINY SEASON, TAIPEI
1
The drenched
vacation
turns languorously
in the stuffy
hotel room
2
Outside the window
the slanting poles
of rain
are fishing in the cold waves
for the lost
spring
3
Once something reminds me
that winter here is cold
and damp
every joint
of my memory
starts aching

I like the last two stanzas better, especially the last stanza.
It seems to me that Taipei in the rainy season is reigning in your memory. _________________ I'm Champagne,

It's a poetic piece of embodied memory writing. I like the last stanza the most, which strikes a chord in remembrance of my mother.
The rain puts into my mind the smell of my mother. She always had her eye watchfully on the weather, ready at the first sign of rain to rush out and fetch the washing off the clothes lines. I can remember the way she smelled when she came in the door with two handfuls of clothes: damp and cold. It seemed to me that the rain had penetrated into her skin, her muscles, and her bones, depleting them of life and warmth. _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul |

Right now, here in Ajax, Ontario, Canada where I’m struggling with the life in transition and translation,
Outside the window
the slanting poles
of rain
are fishing in the cold waves
…
winter here is cold
and damp
every joint
of my memory
starts aching
The wind is blowing now; it is not really all that strong, but chilly and penetrating. It is driving the sharp rain into my mind and its cold, damp breath into my bones.
The last five verse lines of your poem truly reveal the lived experience of the body by portraying in poetic words the finely textured experience of the body, and they evoke empathetic resonance in readers. _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul

To ericcoliu, your poem is kind of like Marcel Proust's Madeleine, which unleashed a tide of memories of his childhood.
I'm looking forward to your new work. _________________ I'm Champagne,
