The Masculine Mystique
Two twenty-something unmarried guys playing darts.
Jim: I think maybe I'm homosexual.
Tim: What are you talking about? Are you losing your mind?
Jim: No. I'm serious. I was walking along Church Street* the other day right behind a long-haired babe. She was good-looking from behind, so, you know I'm not horny and want to catch this golden opportunity, I picked up the pace and got up to her. when I looked at her face, oh, my God! It's a guy.
Tim: And this qualifies you as having homosexual tendencies?
Jim: Well it got me worrying about it. I... We're friends, right? Honestly speaking, sometimes I dreamed about her. Oh! No. It's him.
Tim: What? You're definitely losing your mind, no, your manhood. There must be something wrong about your manhood. Get yourself a woman.
Jim: Well forget about .. I mean you've never looked at some guy and found him attractive, even in some remote way?
Tim: What nonsense! I'm one hundred percent perfectly comfortable with my girls.
Jim: You didn't answer my question. My question is ...
Tim; Stop this nonsense. I like women. I only fuck women. You get lost.
*Church and Wellesley is a LGBT-oriented community located in Toronto. It is roughly bounded by Gould Street to the south, Yonge Street to the west, Charles Street to the north, and Jarvis Street to the east, with the intersection of Church and Wellesley Streets at the centre of this area, which is home to the annual Pride Week celebrations well known around the world. Some people refer to it simply as Church Street because most of the .-related establishments in the area are located on Church Street. The American television series program, Queer as Folk, was filmed in the Church and Wellesley area. _________________ I'm Champagne,

An interesting piece to read and then to think about the confusion caused by the "homosexuality" issue.
Generally speaking, the majority of people and media organizations don't make and think through any distinction between sexual identity, sexual act, and sexual desire, which is crucial to understand human sexuality the issue tightly connected to modernity and industrialization taking place in the past century.
Over the past year, in the USA, the most homosexual-bashing congressmen and priests were caught in their acts of committing homosexual behaviour. It’s a warning sign for a society which havs neglected and polarized this important issue. _________________ Time is nothing but a disquiet of the soul |

I think it’s fair to say that the modern history of homosexuality is a history of identities: their emergences, complexities, and transformations. In his essay entitled Modernity and Self in the History of Sexuality, H. G. Cocks stresses that
“Recent work in the modern history of sexuality, now an established field of inquiry, is characterized by particular approaches to the interpretation of modernity and selfhood. In general, and in contrast to previous approaches, the books under review treat modernity as a localized process with specific effects. Sexual identity is understood in a similar way, as a phenomenon bounded by locality, class, age, nationality, gender, patterns of sociability, and other contextual factors. As such, speaking of sexual identity as a unitary entity, or as something that has historically been structured by an opposition of homosexual/heterosexual, no longer makes sense. In fact, the homo/hetero binary is of much more recent vintage than has been hitherto thought. These histories of sexuality challenge historians of all kinds to rethink the nature of categories like selfhood, identity, and modernity.” _________________ I'm Champagne,
