QQJoin The Ontario Poetry Society’s Youth Branch
If you are between the ages of 8 and 11, and if you like to read and write poetry, then this is the place for you! Members of the Youth Branch will have their original poems published monthly on our website. Poems remain on the website for one year. At the end of the year, the best poems will be published in a book and every member receives one complimentary copy of the book. Additional copies of the book will be available to buy at $15 each.
How to Become a Member:
Membership is $15 a year for young poets, ages 8 to 11. Send a cheque or postal money order payable to The Ontario Poetry Society, 31 Marisa Court, Thornhill, Ontario L4J 6H9 and please include a piece of paper with your name, postal mailing address, phone number and e-mail address.
The Ontario Poetry Society Presents:

Open to all children 8 to 11 years old in Canada & the United States
First Prize: The Art of Bev Doolittle book ($75 value), A Gold Journal & A Fancy Certificate
Second Prize: The Forest Has Eyes by Bev Doolittle ($16.95 value), A Silver Journal
& A Fancy Certificate
Third Prize: A Colouring Book, A Silver Journal & A Fancy Certificate
Three Honourable Mention Awards: A Silver Journal & A Fancy Certificate each
Plus all winning entries will be published on the Youth Branch Page on T.O.P.S. website.
Rules & Guidelines: Poems written on what makes you happy – games, sports, special times with friends and/or family, great times, great food, great dreams, great pet(s), anything that has made you feel good, made you smile, made you wish the time would never end. Maximum line length is 60 lines per poem and the spaces between the stanzas count as lines.
All styles welcome – both rhyming and non-rhyming.
Please put your name, age and home address on the top left-hand corner of each page of your poem and number your pages on the top right hand corner. Do not staple your pages together. Poems may be typed or neatly printed on lined paper.
Entry Fee: If you send one poem, entry fee is one non-cancelled postage stamp.
Two poems are two non-cancelled postage stamps.
Three or more poems are three non-cancelled postage stamps.
Deadline: Entries to be mailed on/or before December 31st, 2007
