If Lao Ha could come, it would be perfect. If not, then we will ask other chinese poet to read the chinese translation.

And Allan also want to share his another poem which related to TU FU...

Here it is:

Tu Fu’s Pines
(based on a translation of the poem “The Four Pines”)

My four pines, when they were first transplanted,
stood just over half my height – and now,
after three years, they match me. Carefully,
I look them all over. … The roots hold strong.
The branches are somewhat battered, but they
stretch their thin arms in shiny deepgreen.

I’ve come home after escaping the rebels.
Spring grass floods my yard, and my fence
around the pines is broken. Peace has not
returned, so I cannot claim this empty house,
where little is left. Much was ruined. Still,
to be back here is happiness. The caress
of a soft breeze brings a feeling of youth.

My pines – grow tall, and spread your shade.
I, a man without roots or ties, am your friend.
I sing poems. Consequences of these times
will soon drop away. And what use to speak
of my days to come? But you, pines, will rise
majestic into the skies.

　　四松初移时，大抵三尺强。别来忽三载，离立如人长。

　　会看根不拔，莫计枝凋伤。幽色幸秀发，疏柯亦昂藏。

　　所插小藩篱，本亦有堤防。终然掁拨损，得吝千叶黄。

　　敢为故林主，黎庶犹未康。避贼今始归，春草满空堂。

　　览物叹衰谢，及兹慰凄凉。清风为我起，洒面若微霜。

　　足以送老姿，聊待偃盖张。我生无根带，配尔亦茫茫。

　　有情且赋诗，事迹可两忘。勿矜千载后，惨澹蟠穹苍
