A staged reading of Sang Kim’s recently published A Dream Called Laundry by KCLF-Press, directed by Marjorie Chan.

Synopsis: It is the 1970’s in Toronto, Canada. A difficult, middle-aged Korean woman is haunted by her sometimes horrific and beautiful past. Soo, a former “comfort woman”- a . slave for the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II- finds herself trapped between the darkly poetic prison of her past and the oppressive freedom of her present. As she slides toward self-destruction, the painful and deeply complex legacy of her life seems destined to doom subsequent generations of her family.
