不给海鸥一个歇脚的地方
海定必寂寞

冒险的船于是离岸出发了
竖著高高的桅


COMPOSITION

if the sea gulls were not given a resting place
the sea would surely be lonely

and so the daring boats leave port and sail
with their high masts

这群小蝴蝶
在阳光亮丽的草地上
彩排风景

却有两只
最潇洒的淡黄色
在半空中追逐嬉戏
久久
不肯就位


FLOATING FLOWERS

on my front lawn
a swarm of butterflies
is busy dress-rehearsing
a midsummer day's dream

but merrily chasing each other in mid-air
the two in bright yellow
are in no hurry to come down
and take their places

静静把多余的午后消磨掉
好几次走近窗口
看天上
是否出现最后一个惊奇

那颗太阳在邻居的屋顶上
久久落不下去几乎使我想起
永恒。今天上午毕卡索死了
不知那三个乐师
要奏些什么曲调
不知那只灰鸽
要往哪个方向飞

这双顽皮的手
伸进来显示
这世界还柔软得可捏可塑
现在却悄悄缩回去了
我下意识地伸出双手想挽留它们
却猛觉这举动的幼稚可笑
便顺势为它们热烈鼓起掌来


PICASSO DIED THIS MORNING

after frittering away the remaining afternoon
I walk up to the window many times
to see if the sky holds any last surprise

as it hangs over my neighbor's roof
the sun seems almost
immortal. Picasso died this morning
I wonder what tunes the three musicians
are going to play
and which way the dove
is going to fly

having shown us the world is still
soft and kneadable
the master hands are now withdrawing
I reach out unconsciously
but realizing how childish it must be
I turn my grasping hands to clapping

THE SUN

1. Rising

the sleepless
worrying about the universe

flushed with excitement

that it is his day's work

even with a gutful of sorrow
he is unable to cry

has its origin in millions of eye sockets
of suffering human beings

铁青著半边脸
她的肋骨
在两条街外
一座未灌水泥的楼基上
根根暴露

这钢的事实
他悲哀地想
无论如何
塞不进
他小小的行囊

I raise my head

I see the skyscrapers
all slanting towards me

traveling far from the orient
a youth arrives at its foot before sundown
without shaking off the dust
he hurriedly ascends to the top
but what he sees through the coin-opening eyes
of the scope
is half of the face
of Picasso's woman iron-dark
in a square reminding him of a rice paddy
while her ribs
are sticking out on a building foundation
several blocks away

this fact of steel
he thinks sadly
can never fit
into his backpack

the last thread of mist drifting in the air
finally joins
the icicles beneath the eaves

我蠻欣賞非馬詩兄的雙語詩，雖然英文和中文有些出入。它是獨立的意譯，而非直譯。
一般中文詩如果是直譯就呆板，而且外國人反而看不懂。
但是非馬詩兄的英詩，完全是英詩体質，唸來很舒暢。

但是非馬詩兄的英詩，完全是英詩体質，唸來很舒暢。

I like 【黄河】the most.

有人给这种方式叫创意翻译,多半不同人来写的。由诗人自己来写，更是一诗俩写，交互演绎，回味无穷。赏读之余，佩服由衷，受益良多。我对这样形式极有兴趣，故提出一些问题，望大师不见怪后生。

FLOATING FLOWERS

on my front lawn
a swarm of butterflies
is busy dress-rehearsing
a midsummer day's dream

swarm的动感，美极！

1．【阴天】

一肚子悲哀
却怎么也哭不出来

欲振无力的黑伞
遂沉沉成了累赘


A CLOUDY DAY

even with a gutful of sorrow
he is unable to cry

the listless unopened umbrella
becomes increasingly
a burden

问：感觉the listless unopened umbrella不好念。

如果这样，干脆两行，
listless the unopened umbrella
increasingly becomes a burden
或，
listlessly， the umbrella opened
increasingly， a burden

再回头读，又好像原文又顺口了。

To correspond to clause before it and 瞻 . self-adjusting is more mechanical,
Iris is more humane.

1。A CLOUDY DAY 里的那句，我是有意让它念起来不那么顺畅的。正如中文版里的“遂沉沉成了累赘”那样连续用了三个chen的音，反映那种沉闷的心情。
2。A STAR-STUDDED WORLD最后用“shot"确比”screen test"好！既有摄影又有射击的双关，而且简练。谢了。
3。meter在这里不是我重要的考虑。
4。A LOOSE AFTERNOON 里用light-footedly这个副词当然较合文法，但念起来有点罗嗦，而且在这里用light-footed这个形容词应该不会造成什么误解。
5。【长城】里的“你看这长城”当时我也曾为“这”或“那”斟酌了半天。“这”把我同长城拉近了，有现场感；而“那”则如你所说的，有历史感。
