Eric, you still don't get it!
I think as a writer, if you are, you know once a word is there, it is not going to disappear. The point is how you use it or them.
Just read what you attached. Which part there contradicted what I said? and NAACP, what's the problem there in what you attached, have you read it yet, hum?
How long have you been here, do you have a child in school? Don't pretend to be an expert if you don't even know. And, do you have your own voice?
Give me a break! |

you don't seem to get it, do you?
read the poem carefully, nigger was the term used back then, not black, it was disparaging then. now considered offensive. (have you been to South?)"all Asian immigrants owe it to the niggers." I did not say owe it to blacks, owe it to niggers, understand? there, hello~? if you knew the history.
now, NOW, some blacks rather use the term niggers to themselves, why?
think about it! it is a term used by them as a way to remember the past, and respectfully. the way a system classifies people by colors is somewhat mysterious and simplistic, we should refer people by ethnic but not by color as to horses or flowers, it was a way designed by whom, it is another plot and color system is being used less and less and I envision it will be abandoned sooner or later.. (FYI, please read the definition of nigger in dictionary, it is a historic term with renewed meanings)
the above was just basics to understand the poem, now the real key in the poem is not about black or white or their racism board in school, it is about MY child, and how we change the racial views in a system to really include and reflect our concerns, not only that of blacks or whites, got it? I hope so. |

thanks for sharing views..
racism used to be explicit(now implicit) at his times;
if you are a father and really love your child,
it disturbs even more when you see your kids
discriminate blacks while you never did so,
thought so.
a mind is born innocent, with no such concept until
the society or school (pre-society) dump such
into it. when a school is teaching anti-racism,
it is also showing what racism was and is, has
to be very careful and skillful, otherwise, kids
learn the other way...the "keep on dreaming"
was 20 some years back when a white is saying:
it won't happen, so keep on dreaming, sarcastically.
now, talking about Asian identify, who do you identify with?
you are not white, black, do you have a dream, what kind?
and don't borrow those words, give them back to blacks.
in a way, all Asian immigrants owe it to the niggers.
The poem is a powerful statement as a father says:
What’s the fuck the school is teaching
my kid? He was born yesterday.
DON"T MISS THAT! |

How did racism get into my kid
At the door of the office admin,
A sign: Racism stops here.
I pick up my kid for he has
A cold, from school.
“Do you know why niggers Don’t sleep?”
‘what?’
“Just guess”
‘you don’t like black people, son?’
“Because he has a dream and he got
killed, that why blacks don’t sleep”
‘that’s not a good joke; but I remember
my Grad. School John said: Oh yeah—
keep on dreaming to “I have a dream”’
What’s the fuck the school is teaching
my kid? He was born yesterday. |

one is born with identity by country or culture
then may outgrow it and become a general humanity
only few can achieve that in a life's agenda
Ludwig van Beethoven is one of them, for example.
still confused as a Chinese, that's so obsolete ... |

Lake 写到: | It is indeed a romantic encounter. I like such a small talk too when checking out. It reminds me of a conversation at the bookstore:
Cashier: Wow, this book is so thick! 3000 pages! I can never finish it.
Me(blushed): I'm afraid I cannot either.
I am curious to know if there is a reason to single out 'I' in S1.
Should 'says' in S1 be 'say'?
Enjoyed it. Thanks. |
here
yes, I am playing with the moods in poetic arrangement a bit. It is of course safe to use 'say'.
she ‘d
Always read out the titles of books -- a habitual behavior
I -- I am unique in receiving treatment from all other customers
Brought and says: Yup, this is a good book. -- 'says' after 'and' here means a result, not connected to 'she'd' , and every time is different as it appears to 'I", though the words appear the same" Yup, this is a good book." that is, 'says' here breaks away from the habitual grammar from I perspective, that's why it is romantic.
well, have fun. |

I shout READING even though it might deafen you
and never say that reading is a romantic thing
for it's hard, a violation
of all laws for the shrinking of people.
I shout READING, counting on the hope
that you'll be in love
with the sound of reading books. |
interesting expression! a zen to it! |

“Can I help the next one in line, please”
As I walk into the bookstore, I look
At her, my favorite cashier, she ‘d
Always read out the titles of books

I would spend hours there to hear her say:
“Can I help the next one in line, please” |

read the page mentioned, not familiar with her poems.
but like the "Judges’ Citation" says, i think she got a good
entry into something beyond poetics, the being and the world
around the being of each and every one, in different corner of
the changing world; eco-poetry addresses env. more, she
seems to be addressing the humanity side of the eco-equation
just a quick thought, maybe ought to get a book...first |

Your act of writing a poem outright defies your own concluding statement.
Welcome you to be a constant gardener of English Garden. |
thanks, there's this front cover story in Mother Jones magazine:
Can the world survive China's rush to emulate the American way of life?
Car was the symbol of American life.
China is a big 'car' if I extrapolate it a little bit. |

Getting to a subway
On a bright express car, modern graffiti --
Nails painted in dirt black (a vanity salon in thought)
The <Les Fleurs du mal> beneath (tattoos
on the most sensitive tongue: like taboos?)
There’s this smooth skin, healthy, while her life at 18 --
Pigeon bombs. Dali distresses people,
The private part of the cat of the deepest dye
Pessoa perplexes the public,
Loneliness gives birth to one split and Nihilism
Matchmaking blood-stopping poisonous weeds and
Colorectal cancer; in the melting-pot department
parasites, protein sentries, and intestines nest in a Casablanca.
And fanatics? Brook not a case of eyes of the beholders
"The ancients are not all sincere," sands, in the hourglass
。 。 。
。 。
。
。 。
。 。 。
A crowd much the same; go back and forth till bottoms up.
Devourers breaking the chariot, the latter then slowly swallows.
To this rush, we squeeze through the door. . .
(“The sands are numb'red that makes up my life" Shakespeare.) |

The great hall is raining—
Raining with a rhythm tip-o-dip
No, I won’t get you—
I’ll play a radio to your tempo
Vocals, must have—oh no
Me taken. I was reading your semiotics
On the face page of the pool where
Diagonal reflections woven
Riddled into Louis’s trumpeted cords
The chandelier may have frightened many
A ghost. The podium could have inspired lives
In between, semantic pendants and
The great hall is raining
There are so many rooms
Why you choose to stay there
Stay alone, there, you choose
As if the rains the spring sprouts |
